Welcome to the beginning of endgame, little wizards!

Besides the gathering of materials this week, we have a large encounter for everyone next week. There will be a lot of combat. There will probably be explosions. Quite a lot will be on the line. And because of that, we want to make sure we design an encounter that's appropriate for everyone, and we want to make sure the danger levels are within everyone's comfort.

There will be plenty to do, even if your character is not particularly combat-focused. Without giving anything away, characters will be breaking off into smaller groups for shorter tasks before convening in one larger group to finish it all off. Let's go out with a bang!

Consider filling out this permissions form to be signing up for the finale. While we would ideally like everyone to participate, we don't want to design an encounter for twenty plus people only for around ten to actively participate.

Describe a typical evening at the manor for your character: he's active more in the evening than the mornings (not a morning person in the least...) so he is absolutely a night owl who stays up until whatever o'clock. dinner, probably has a book somewhere on him during it because of course he does, then he vanishes off to do whatever suits his whim. library time, magic practice either outside or in his room depending on what he's trying to work on, weapons' practice in the courtyard or training area because why should he allow himself to get rusty with his forms? he'll entertain whoever decides to try to approach him for anything within reason, but if left up to his own devices eventually he'll settle into his own room to review information, strategize, note things down in a journal, read whatever stuff he's bought from the capitals ...

he is not good at sitting still. sometimes someone might catch him pacing or definitely not patrolling around outside for no good reason. even more sometimes you can catch him on one of the not-taken rooftops, stargazing. even even more sometimes you might catch a large shadow slipping away from the manor to do a night flight over the countryside/as practice with the transformation (because as it turns out, large fuckoff dragons scare people seeing them for some reason, who would've thunk).

Describe a typical evening at the manor for your character: Time shifts between doing a bit of mundane magic practice in his room, taking a nap in his own room or the common room, having dinner with everybody (that he 80% likely had a hand in making), and then possibly going for an evening stroll up in central before coming back. He's a night owl due to insomnia and habit, and tends to be up till 2 am give or take. If not putzing around, he can be found in the kitchen doing meal prep or ingredient checks. If he's hanging out with anyone, it's likely jing yuan (possibly against his will).

Materials gathering: Ithaqua is a shoo-in for gathering the frozen Oz root because he's a Northie, a snowman, and can keep the roots from thawing with his ice magic. See, learning new magic is useful...! I'm also up for the storm in a bottle and monster blood quests. Though... Ithaqua might kill the monster instead, oops. Please control him.

Last minute training prep anyone? Ithaqua is willing to coach others on basic combat training or push them to do more and do better so they're prepared for what's to come.

He's going to make more ice bombs...! I'm sure the Westies know about them by now (wink wonk). He's going to make so many ice bombs, there may be some patches of snow or ice around the manor for a bit until he dispels them.

Completing one or all of the following:

The Frozen Oz Root. Jing Yuan hates the cold but he can actually surprising put up with it well due to frequenting the Shackling Prison. If you want to hear him whine a little for once, though, this is the mission!

Water from the Lost Oasis. The dessert! Jing Yuan can probably put up with the heat and he is very good for getting along with spirits despite what the rolls would have you believe in early spirit communication (folds arms) Accompany him and complain about the weather and general area as we're nabbing some special water? He will be accommodating as well as put his MAX Charisma stat to use!

A Storm in a Bottle. ...Alternatively, help with stressing out spirits to contain their stormy contents in a bottle? Or turn them into cats? Your choice. Chill Grandpa is hear in your (and his own) time of need!

Blood of the Last Monster. Fortunately, Jing Yuan isn't a fight-hungry person to the point where he'd purposefully wake up the monster in collecting what is needed into a vial.

Pestilence Frog Mucus. He won't be eager to do this but if someone asks Jing Yuan to accompany him, he will, closes eyes.

Other things he's doing is training, working on various things (items like magically enhanced accessories or whatever, I'm still trying to work out the specifics), dozing off in the middle of things and the like.

I think I'm going to throw up a top-level with some of these quests as a prompt regardless. In addition, if there's anything else you want to do with him, do let me know, I am open to a lot of things.

Plotting: Day will definitely be heading South for the frog mucus gathering. He is also willing to help with any of the other gathering quests, especially Central since he's used to dealing with the desert and West for what's effectively a stealth mission. 50-50 if he'll be able to help with catching a storm for East or if only cats will emerge. He can be persuaded to help with the North material gathering, he just isn't keen on heading back to the cold.

Besides that Day is still around practicing his magic AND his martial arts, especially throughout the day. He is always up for sparring!

Like all other Norths, Ahito's well-accustomed to dealing with Northern country bullshit at this point and can provide both wards against the cold and enough ice magic to keep the roots frozen to boot.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Any of our more emotionally agonized wizards (hi easts but mostly phil), Solomon can and will wrangle you all individually to pep talk you and do some magical practice.

The Frozen Oz Root, Blood of the Last Monster and Frog Mucus are the three that will have the most chance of Solomon participating! He will be a little miserable for Frogs due to the weather... but it's fine.

A Storm in a Bottle he can come with if someone wants to watch him annoy the shit out of a bunch of spirits.

Water from the Lost Oasis he will be 1) miserable due to the heat and 2) not very helpful given that the central spirits don't like the North. :') So maybe don't bring him on this one.

Other than the missions, he will also be helping anyone that wants to create magical items, and in general just making the rounds to the others. If someone wants magical sparring with a North... :eyes:

Hierophant of the Grimleal...? former strategist/Grandmaster of Ylisse. the breath of ruin the wings of despair the etc etc end of all things, closest thing to a god of death for his world. has completely given up any pretense of not being anything more than baseline human, not that he made much effort of it outside of simply not acknowledging it explicitly all that often. catch him sporting red eyes at all times now rather than just when he's particularly annoyed, in a Off Mood, or feeling silly and making a point. sharp witted, sharper tongued, local grandpa number 3 of the manor and probably the spiciest of them in temper but somehow not the most sus. somehow i ended up playing from the hit light novel I Can't Believe My Ancient Dragon God of Destruction Might? Actually Be? a Tsundere Who Cares? (????????? citation needed) this is hateful to me.
Plotting:

• Water from the Lost Oasis - might as well be a lost cause, as though he's fine and comfortable in the desert unlike half of the north, he is still a stinky smelly north that has cooties the central spirits don't like. Whoopsies. Feel free to take him along, but.
  
• Frozen Oz Root - you could do worse than to bring him, tbh. he's spent plenty of time up in the north by now, and him being a creature of the desert means he knows exactly what kinds of images to bring to mind for a hex for warmth; he can keep y'all nice and toasty if that's something that you're having trouble with, and being a fair hand at wind magic means he can also cut through the worst of the chill.
  
• Storm in a Bottle - what's the most likely to stress the spirits into a storm. are you asking him to purposely lay on the chuuni thing real thick. that said he's wind and lightning aligned so he might decently equipped to handle a storm and help guide it into a bottle or something if they figure out how they're doing that?
  
• Blood of the Last Monster - there are worse options, surely.
  
• Frog Mucus - you can take him along and he'll cooperate and probably make himself useful if you want something done but he probably won't be happy about the bog.

Kurapika has voluntold him to figure out a signalling system and general what color means what code for if like, anyone gets into a situation where they can't just holler for help but want it. That sort of deal. So that'll end up on the bulletin board I guess.

He has half a mind to go investigating the north again

He. He might have something to bring up at the meeting but we'll see. It's mostly teamwork and organization related because he's heard people handwringing about being useless or whatever...

He will also be up to all his usual day to day schedule things but More. Wanna get some magic sparring in with a North? Wanna get some weapons sparring in? A mix of both? Need last minute tutoring(???)? Pepe silvia at him. Play anarchy chess with him. Play regular chess with him! Catch him stargazing and intrude on his time. Bother him for a dragonback ride (rude).
