Welcome to the end of game TL;CR meme!

It's been a busy three months with a lot of ups and downs with all kinds of CR... Now's the perfect time to look back and see the path your characters have taken.

he didn't really notice his attachment until he saw what a dead wizard looked like and it stunned him. he's seen his fair share of blood and death and while he's capable of feeling sad for people who've passed he's always bounced back pretty quickly. but knowing that wizards leave nothing behind, no body, nothing to hold or to bury, shocked him into the very real possibility that if something happened to khun he would have nothing to carry with him. there's the memories and the changes and the gifts but it's not a lock of hair or a handprint or blood in an earring (he's normal!). it was really distressing, not that he ever doubted that they could be together forever or that khun was powerful enough to overcome anything, but in that moment it was really upsetting to think he could never absorb his mana stones for himself if something ever happened to him. he was a lot of emotion that day. so the purple in khun's eyes hit a little harder than they would have at any other time, i think. if he couldn't have his mana stones he was going to have the purple in his eyes instead :)

khun also saying outright "you're mine" was exactly what he needed, and he was so happy to be his. me also laughing bc they absolutely slept together every night in both senses of the word

all of that definitely came to a head in the events that followed—the bar thread, where they were still being silly as they normally are but in front of everyone else that time. it's funny that some people had no idea they were a thing and then suddenly they get hit in the face with khuntara fully formed. and during the party, when he was dared to sing a song, that's when he got the idea to write (a) song(s) for khun. it wasn't a really long time between party and trip to borda island but when tatara gets in the sauce, he gets in deep. i like to think that the little melody he was humming while they were dancing in the city of affluence eventually made it into a full fledged song... i got you, maybe...

but more importantly, khun: one, it's nice to know he has a hobby and you absolutely know tatara is going to beg him to teach him how to fish so they can go together once they get to the tower. and two, maria. he already knows (firsthand) that khun loves so intensely, considering what he did for baam. he knows about baam, and how he felt trying to help him. so that it took him that long to open up about maria told tatara that he probably felt even more strongly for her, or held that memory closer to his chest, or felt that was a weak point for him. either way, tatara had already told himself there was nothing about khun that would make him not love him, so he was ready. and he was right. from khun's story he saw their own parallels, little explanations why they got along together so well and why khun didn't give up on him though tatara already had. all he reads into his betrayal is love and devotion and knowing that's all his makes him love him even more. so much went wrong as a result of khun's actions but they're both iterations of fire and so he kind of...just accepts that as a natural consequence of the way both of them love. but still, he sees what khun is like now and if maria is the one that made him that way, then he still has it on his to do list to thank her for that. tatara is insane.

honestly, looking at it in hindsight i think that's the moment he decided he wanted to live lol even if he didn't realize it in the moment thank you maria

(another sidenote i'm still floored i got you came out when it did and it fits them so perfectly, with all the imagery even with the when it's starless, i will follow you to the moon line which so neatly ties it all into wizard world and every time i listen to it i :crymeow:)

it's a good thing the ring came so soon after. because that prompted him to find the words for the few things that clicked into place on the beach. after everything they'd been through and after how far tatara and fallen, he absolutely read the ring (infused with khun's blood!!!!) as romantic. and with the question of what tatara would do at the end of his tenure as sage hanging over his head, and knowing that khun was going to ask him what he wanted again at some point, he took it as an engagement. because he'd decided he was going to live, because of him, for him, and it made sense that he would dedicate the rest his newfound life to the person who pulled him out from the little pit of resignation. he loves aguero so much and after knowing him inside out he decides there's nothing that can keep them apart, and the ring is the perfect catalyst for that. it's too bad and extremely funny that tatara's assumption didn't come out until the meeting and murdered khun in cold blood LMFAO but who would he be if he weren't just as aggressive, if not more aggressive in his affection for him? he'll always, always reach out first.

maybe the end of his life looming over them was what gave him impetus in the relationship at first, but at this point he doesn't really care he's essentially rushing into giving his whole life to one person... because that's what he did with mikoto and he honestly doesn't know how to show his love any other way, so he really could not ask for anything better than khun always understanding him and being on the same page as him.

of course, he was still a little apprehensive when their mission came up, but at least now he had a ring with aguero's blood in it ksdhsgdksdg. but like he knew anyway, khun came back safe and sound (argument with bruno notwithstanding, at least he knows him now and has the language to explain to bruno what exactly happened there). and with that little seed of worry gone, there was nothing holding him back when it came to face the end. that, too, went perfectly fine, just like he thought it would! and now that everything's in order again, he is so so so relieved to finally get to spend time with him without any obligations before going back to the tower, without the possibility of anyone else catching sight of them or listening in on them, and that's just them. adjusting to the tower is going to be tough but at least they have their time at the beach again and for real (with sunscreen x2) (west coded couple btw)

not everything khun tells him is going to end up in tatara's sage tome, because he knows some of these things are things best kept safe and away from a prying eye. and also, because he respects him too much to betray that trust. though, he is going to write a little addendum at the very end of his book: about how sage tatara totsuka had been content to choose death, but then he fell in love with khun aguero agnis of the west, who taught him how to live.

i think they're still dancing, carried away by the breeze, somehow, but it's a little different. i think they may as well be the sky and the air itself at this point, because going beyond the end their bond is unshakeable, they can't keep their minds or their hands or their eyes off each other. aguero firmly planted the desire to live in tatara's heart and for every ounce of life he's been given, he's going to give back to aguero equally. he's still going to make him latte foam art and omurice onigiri and magpie trinkets and songs and literally any new thing he comes to learn in the tower just to show how much he loves him, every day. tatara owes so much to him and he's never ever going to forget that. he wouldn't be alive and living without khun and all his love and relentless pursuing and now he's going to always cherish the color purple.
